SOTA and Special Event Callsign VI100ACT Centenary of Canberra

The Canberra Region Amateur Radio Club (CRARC) has been allocated the special event callsign VI100ACT as part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Canberra. The callsign can be activated by club members until the end of 2013 in a variety of locations ranging from members home QTH’s to a variety of sites around the ACT area, including a number of SOTA peaks.

I have secured the special event callsign VI100ACT for a SOTA activation of unnamed summit VK1/AC-018 1510 metres ASL on the weekend of 22/23 June 2013.  Operating frequencies will be in the 2m, 20m and 40m bands. Forecast weather conditions are looking ok with a minimum overnight temperature of minus (-) 4 degrees on Saturday 22 June 2013. Sunday is now out due to the forecast of snow showers >1200 metres.

Please check SOTAWatch towards the end of the week for details.
