Surprise visitor to the garden

This adult Blue-tongued lizard paid me a visit today.  Started work on a paving job (work in progress job…groan!) only to find this fella warming in the sun.

For the overseas readers the length is 18 inches (45 cm) with a girth of 2 inches (5 cm).  After taking pictures for the blog, I took the Blue-tonged to Oakey Hill Nature Reserve.  This fella is not compatible with my silly yappy dog Bella.

  1. Hi Andrew

I think you need to have several environmental impact studies with all the associated sub committees and lunches, on the paving project. Should put it off for the next 4 or 5 years.

First off a fact finding mission, checking out their habitat, that would encompass several SOTA summits

  2. Hi Andrew they are great little neighbors we have several of them on our 1 acre block here in Nimmitabel we try to look after them because snakes don’t get on very well with them so the more
of them you have in your yard the better
