VK SOTA Bonanza – Sunday 30 Aug 15

VK SOTA chasers and activators alike are preparing for a big SOTA day out on Sunday 30 Aug 15.  For VK1 Sunday is a celebration to mark the end of the Canberra deep-freeze while our VK2 neighbours in NSW will celebrate the 2nd anniversary of VK2 SOTA.   Over in the far west of Australia, VK6 will celebrate their 1st SOTA anniversary, congratulations VK6.  😀

Standby for a full day of ‘all-mode’ action on 40m through to 2m, from the east coast to the west coast across 3400 km of red earth. The list of activators and unique summits is growing!  With 3 sleeps to go, below is a snap-shot of the early posts on SOTAWatch.  😎

To earn the 3 point seasonal bonus, winter activators are very keen to operate from SOTA peaks above 1200 metre ASL, some even higher in the snowline   🙂

  2. Looking forward to the day. I hope there will be some more activators out before UTC rollover for double S2S points. In any case I’ll be operating all day and hope to try some PSK31 as well as CW and SSB.
    Cheers,

      • Hi Rob, I listened for you yesterday, I was on Webbs Ridge VK2/ST-005 with Andrew VK1MBE. I could hear the chasers working you but not your transmissions on 7.085 SSB, 40m band conditions were particularly poor. Great to see a new VK SOTA blog well done, I will add your site to my SOTA blogs page. Thanks for the ‘Shelter’ reference, I might visit the shop when next in Melbourne. I look forward to making a S2S contact with you sometime in the future.
        73, Andrew VK1NAM
