SOTA – 70 cm DMR activation

Sunday 4 September 2016, Booroomba Rocks VK1/AC-026 1382 metres ASL, 30 km south-west of Canberra GPO.

I’m planning my first SOTA 70 cm DMR digital activation operating on simplex frequency 439.0125 MHz using a DMR HT.  Not sure how the stock antenna will perform, I will take a hombrew 70 cm SlimJim antenna as a backup.

Last week I took delivery of a dual mode Digi/FM AnyTone AT-D858 DMR HT.

  1. I jumped on the DSTAR wagon several years ago but find I don’t use it. I always like to keep an eye on what’s happening though, like Fusion etc.. Be interested to see how it goes.
