SOTA Milestone – 10,000 QSOs

Wednesday 16 November 2016.  Today, after 3 years and 9 months of SOTA in Australia’s Capital Territory (VK1), I completed my ten thousand (10,000) logged SOTA activator QSO with fellow SOTA and Park activator Paul VK5PAS/3 for a SOTA S2S between Black Mountain VK1/AC-042 in Canberra and One Tree Hill VK3/VS-036 near Ararat in Victoria.  Thanks Paul for the QSO on 20m and a huge thanks to all SOTA and Park chasers.   🙂

The aim of this activation is to earn 1 solitary SOTA activator point and to complete 24 QSOs from Black Mountain Nature Reserve VKFF-0834 which will count towards the radio amateur WWFF awards program for a total of 44 QSOs from this nature reserve.

Summit to Summit and VKFF Park to Park QSOs also included Andrew VK1DA/P at Bullen Range VK1/AC-033, VKFF-0984.  🙂

Black Mountain summit is relatively flat.  I took up a position about 100 metres west of Telstra Tower.

  2. Hi Andrew,

It was my pleasure to be your 10,000th contact. A great job mate. I have now mentioned this in my blog as well, and placed a link to your site also.

    Here’s to many more QSOs.

  3. Hi Andrew
I must say what an incredible score and a lot of fun as well. Congratulations and it is great to see so much extra SOTA and Parks activity now as compared with two or three years ago.

  4. Congrats indeed, Andrew. As a new Ham, I look forward to similar SOTA activity in coming years. Cheers to you my man! 😉

  5. Congratulations Andrew! That’s an amazing amount of SOTA contacts. It would take me a long time to accomplish that as regular contacts, much less SOTA. Well done.

  6. That’s more than a milestone, Andrew! It’s one hell of an achievement! Well done.
