For the VK1 SOTA birthday event I activated Mt Stromlo VK1/AC-043 on 2m simplex 146.5 FM. Due to a previous commitment I hadn’t made any serious plans to activate multiple bands (HF and VHF), so I went with the option of a simple activation on 2m FM. I joined enthusiastic VK activators, Bill VK1FWBK at Mt Taylor, Phil VK2JDL at Mt Rob Roy and Wade VK1FWBD at Mt Anislie.

From my operating place I enjoyed an interference free activation. 300 metres to the north the summit trig station is well-known for localised S8 interference (QRM.) Thankfully the summit is mostly flat meaning the 25 metre activation zone extends south for almost 1 km.
